Gardeners have to complete their volunteer hours by requesting independent projects as long as they can work on these projects alone or with their household while maintaining physical distance from other gardeners.

All gardeners are collectively responsible for maintaining the paths and community areas in our garden. Because of this, all gardeners have to spend at least two of their volunteer hours in weeding and mulching the following areas (which are highlighted in the garden map above) before taking on other projects:
- Main path (marked in black in this map)
- Seating areas 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
- Orchard
- Collect plain cardboard (without any plastic covering or paint) from the recycling bins in the village and remove any tape and staples
- Lay the plain cardboard sheets over the area to be mulched. It is good practice to overlap them as much as possible and not have any gaps
- Shovel and haul mulch in wheelbarrows from the pile in the parking space outside the south gate or the pile in the orchard and spread a thick even layer (at least 4”-6”)
- Gardeners have to LOG their hours and include before and after pictures showing the work done for it to count towards their mandatory volunteer hours requirement.
- All gardeners are required to maintain the side paths around their plots. Mulching and maintaining side paths does not count towards the volunteer hour requirement for the year.
- Please send a picture of the area you plan to clear to [email protected] at least a day in advance of working on it so that it can be confirmed that the area is not a part of someone’s plot. We had some gardeners clear and mulch someone’s plot assuming it was a community area in the past and we want to make sure this never happens again.
